WHY ORGANIC?
Organic does not automatically mean more beneficial or even healthier. It does, or should, signify that no chemicals have been used in the growing and production process. However current laws for product descriptions and labelling allow companies to classify some products as organic when they are very much not at all, they may in fact contain very little true organic material.
We choose organic for moral reasons not therapeutic ones. However you can be assured that if we state organic on our literature or label the product contains at least 95% organic material and in reality probably 99%. Unless otherwise stated. The majority of the products are 100% because we do not manipulate them in any way, what you purchase is in the same state that it left the distillery or producer.
Inevitably organic products tend to cost a little more and especially high quality organics. What do I mean by this? When natural plant materials are used the location, climate, time of harvesting and subsequent handling of the product can very profoundly affect its quality. Lavender grown high in the Alps, for example, is not like Lavender grown in the South of England even if the plant species is the same.
With floral waters in particular the amount of plant essence retained in the water can vary considerably. Worse even, a very prominent High Street store sells “Organic” Rosewater that is quite clearly manufactured, if you trouble to read the label.
It is unfortunate as in all things that companies will stretch the truth and even blatantly lie in order to try and sell their product, many of them treat you the customer with contempt knowing full well that you will not question what you are being told.
Many time it has been proven that in some cases the creams and oils that you pay many pounds for work no better than something basic and natural. Creams for example contain a very high percentage of water and a basic vegetable oil, the ACTIVE ingredients are a very small part of the total.
However recently the trend has been to be more natural and some products have enriching JOJOBA or some other natural ingredient because it is so good,. You will find about 2% , if that, in the product! Sometimes even, it is an extract of the product, where the raw material is processed to take out the bit they want. If it is so good why not just purchase neat jojoba oil (the way we sell it) and miss out all the other stuff.
