It Costs How Much?

It Costs How Much?

Some cosmetic companies invest huge sums of money and time into developing new and different creams, lotions, and serums.  To get back that investment and a bit more, they must spend yet more money on marketing the product to convince you that it really is the new kid on the block.

However, there have now been many studies comparing these expensive magic! Formulas for basic everyday creams, lotions, and serums. All too often, the cheap basic product does as well, if not better.

I have witnessed perfectly intelligent people fall for the marketing hype and believe that by paying a lot, the product must be good. Worse, they do not investigate what they are buying and do not understand what the ingredients in the product actually are.

Of course, the companies rely on our ignorance because if better informed, we would not buy the products.

Psychology must now be considered, and, in particular, the placebo effect. It is a reality and important.

Of course what you pay for a product is your choice, and if you can afford it, not a real problem. If you are overpaying (considerably) again, it is your choice as long as you realise that you are overpaying.

HERE IS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE

Our cleansing lotion is Organic, has no SLS, SLES or parabens in it. It works very well as a cleanser and toner, and for 100ml is about £5.00. You can find other cleansers very similar in reality, but because of who makes it,  it might cost more like £50.00. Remember these lotions are mixtures of a vegetable oil and water!

Just recently, I had a conversation with a friend, and her concern was what the bottle looks like in her bathroom, which one would assume not many other people get to see the inside of very often.

Whatever you buy, read and understand the ingredients list and try to comprehend what the sales blurb actually means. If the product is making medicinal claims, it is even more important that you do these things. If the product being sold is said to heal your problem in 6 weeks! But it is not available from the NHS. Ask yourself why because it would be a miracle product.

“Simple is best,”   “You really want to focus on products that have very simple ingredients and very few ingredients.” Allergist Sandra Hong, MD, USA
