Description
Marjoram - Certified Organic
Thymus mastichina (marjoram) flower oil
Country of Origin: Spain
SKU 0076
Not to be confused with Egyptian Marjoram (Origanum majorana) which is a completely different Essential Oil.
Spanish marjoram essential oil (Thymus mastichina), often called Wild Marjoram or Mastic Thyme, is a distinct oil endemic to the Iberian Peninsula. Unlike Sweet Marjoram (Origanum majorana), the Spanish variety is botanically part of the Thyme family and is rich in eucalyptol (1,8-cineole), Linalool, giving it a sharper, more medicinal, and camphoraceous aroma similar to eucalyptus.
Uses
- Respiratory Support: High eucalyptol content makes it a powerful expectorant. It is used in steam inhalations to clear chesty coughs, congestion, and sinus issues.
- Muscular Relief: Known for warming and stimulating circulation. It is frequently added to massage blends to soothe strains, sprains, and achy joints after physical activity.
- Mental Clarity: Its refreshing scent helps combat mental fatigue and lethargy, improving focus and concentration.
- Immune Boosting: Historically used in Spain as an infusion to fight colds and flu; today, it's used in diffusers to purify the air.
Perfect for: post-exercise recovery, tired aching muscles
How to Use Marjoram
In a diffuser: Add 4–6 drops to your diffuser with water. Run for 30–60 minutes to fill your space with natural aroma.
Topical application: Dilute 2–3 drops in 10ml of a carrier oil such as our Organic Jojoba Oil. Apply to pulse points, temples or the area of concern for muscle and joint relief. Always patch test before first use.
In the bath: Blend 4–6 drops with a tablespoon of carrier oil, then add to warm running water for a therapeutic aromatic soak.
For massage: Add 12–18 drops per 30ml of carrier oil (2–3% dilution) for a therapeutic full-body massage.
Blends well with: Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot, Chamomile Roman.
Safety: For external use only. Always dilute before skin application. Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy without professional advice. Keep away from children and pets.
