Myrtle
Myrtus Communis Oil
Country of Origin: Morocco or Tunisia
SKU 0081
Myrtle essential oil, steam-distilled from the leaves and twigs of the Myrtus communis plant, has a clear, fresh, camphoraceous aroma similar to eucalyptus but slightly sweeter. It is a popular choice for respiratory support, emotional balance, and oily skincare, and is considered a gentler alternative to more potent oils like eucalyptus or tea tree.
Uses
Good for children.
- Respiratory Health: It acts as a powerful expectorant, helping to clear congestion, soothe coughs, and provide relief from conditions like bronchitis and sinus infections. It's often considered gentle enough for use with children for chesty coughs.
- Skincare: Its astringent and antiseptic properties make it an excellent ingredient for balancing oily or acne-prone skin, reducing the appearance of pores, and calming irritations. It can also be added to shampoos for deep cleansing.
- Emotional Well-being: The oil has a balancing and uplifting effect on the emotions, helping to cleanse negative thoughts, alleviate stress and anxiety, and foster a sense of calm and relaxation. It can aid in meditation and mindfulness practices.
Perfect for: blocked noses, cold and flu season, gentle enough for little ones, blemish-prone skin, oily complexions
How to Use Myrtle
In a diffuser: Add 4–6 drops to your diffuser with water. Excellent for clearing the airways during cold and flu season. Particularly effective in bedrooms and living spaces.
Topical application: Dilute 2–3 drops in 10ml of a carrier oil such as our Organic Jojoba Oil. Apply to pulse points, temples or the area of concern for healthy, radiant skin. Always patch test before first use.
In the bath: Blend 4–6 drops with a tablespoon of carrier oil, then add to warm running water for a therapeutic aromatic soak.
For massage: Add 12–18 drops per 30ml of carrier oil (2–3% dilution) for a therapeutic full-body massage.
Blends well with: Lavender, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Lemon.
Safety: For external use only. Always dilute before skin application. Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy without professional advice. Keep away from children and pets.
